Exciting News: 2025 Travel Hockey Tryouts
We are thrilled to announce that tryouts for the 2025 Travel Hockey season will take place on January 10 and January 13.

If your player is interested in trying out, pre-registration is required and cost $15/player. You can register by clicking here.

This year, we anticipate forming teams for 10U, 12U, and 14U age groups. Additional information about estimated costs and time commitments is attached to this email. Please note that all costs are estimates and may vary based on the number of players per team and practice hours. Players should wear comfortable shorts or leggings and socks

10/16/24 - New Player Evaluations (5:30pm-6:30pm)

New players only. Must bring full gear as players will complete stations to determine skill level.

10/21/24 - Junior Referee Clinic (5:00pm-6:30pm)

Players must be 10 years or older, and experienced skaters. Registration must be completed in order to participate, click here to register. Junior Ref’s attending the clinic are committing to reffing a minimum of 5 games during the fall season. The rink will be available for those registered for the Junior Referee Clinic from 5:00pm-5:30pm for stick time, full gear required. 

10/22/24  - Stick Time (5:00pm-6:00pm)

Youth players only. $10 per player. Full gear required.   Register Here.

10/22/24  -  Goalie Clinic (5:30pm-7:00pm)

Registration must be completed in order to participate, click here to register. Players MUST bring their skates and girdle. Gear fitting will take place from 5:30pm-6:00pm, on rink clinic will run from 6:00pm-7:00pm.  If your player is planning on playing goalie this season, this clinic is highly suggested. If your goalie is unable to make the clinic, please let us know.

10/23/24 - Meet Your Team Event (5:30pm-6:30pm)

No gear required. Players and parents will find out their team, coach, and practice schedule for the season. If you are unable to attend, you will receive this information via league email that will be sent by 10/26. A volunteer sign up will be available to sign up for 2 hour volunteer time slots.

10/25/24 - LAST DAY TO BUY COMPANION PRACTICE PASSES

WE ARE BACK! 

We are excited to announce the opening of both youth and adult hockey registration for the fall season!

We’re sure you are all wanting to get to the nitty gritty of what we’ve been working on with the City (it’s in here) but we wanted to share just a couple things before we get to that part…

Revive the Rink

We would like to invite you to help us revive the rink on October 2nd, 6:00 - 8:30 PM. We will have some brooms and dusters but we would appreciate any supplies you can lend as well. During this time we will be dusting, sweeping, preparing for our youth gear pick up day, and getting the rink ready for its Redding Sports Complex debut! Our SRHL community help on this day will allow us to have gear pick up on October 15th at no charge to our organization.

Sharks Tickets Still Available

We only have 10 Sharks tickets left for October 12th vs the Ducks! We have secured a hotel block for the Fairfield Marriott. The hotel booking link will be sent to everyone who has purchased tickets. Don’t forget all youth players going will be entered to win a spot for the hallway high-5! We hope to see you there. 

The Nitty Gritty About Registration and What to Expect

Over the past month, SRHL has been in communication with the City advocating for the hockey rink to open back up while attempting to keep our program costs as manageable as possible for both parties. With that being said, we are seeing both an increased cost in hourly rental fees as well as an added gate fee for all youth sports. While we are currently not able to eliminate gate fees, we are happy to announce that the city will be providing some alternatives for youth families (see additional information below).

Registration Deadlines

• Youth:

  • Early Bird Registration Closes on October 2nd, 2024 - $208

  • Regular/Late Registration Closes on October 15th, 2024 - $250

• Adults:

  • October 7th, 2024 

Gate Fees & Alternatives

The Redding Sports Complex will re-open as of October 1st with the following rules in regards to gate fees:

• Youth 12 & Under will be FREE

• Youth Players Under 18 (must be in gear) will be FREE

• All others will have to pay a $5.00 entry fee during weekdays, $7.00 on weekends if there is a tournament (softball or hockey)

  • Punch Cards will be available for purchase at the gate. Punch cards include a buy 10 entries, get 1 entry free deal (roughly 10% cost savings)

NOTE: Gate fees will be in addition to your registration & gear rental fee. 

SRHL understands that this increase in gate fees will be challenging for many of our families. With that in mind, we have worked in collaboration with the City to help families combat this expense on practice days for YOUTH families only. SRHL will have a “Practice Pass” available for purchase at the time of registration. A Practice Pass can be used Monday-Friday, and will allow for 2 adult entries with a youth player present. This will be a huge savings for families, dropping the entry fee from $5.00 to $1.25! This is an optional pass, but we highly recommend you register for this. Please note, you may only purchase 1 pass per family and this is NOT eligible for adult league entries. 

SRHL will continue to advocate to eliminate gate fees for practice sessions even after the reopening of the park, but in the meantime we are happy to have the few alternatives listed above.

BLD has been put in the penalty box. Last week BLD notified employees and partners that they will be discontining their contract with the City of Redding and closing their doors. At this time SRHL is committed to keeping hockey in the north state and will let you know how you can help. 

If you are available on Monday, July 29th, 2024 at 5:15 PM come on own to city hall in your SRHL gear and or Hockey Jerseys to show your support for the program. SRHL is optimistic about this and is hopeful to partner with the City of Redding to keep the Hockey Rink alive and thriving.

Stick Time

There are occasional stick times available throughout the Spring season. This is a chance for your player to get on the rink in full gear and work on skating and puck handling. Coaches will be at the rink, however this is not an organized time of drills.

For players 10 years and under, our first Stick Time will be Monday, March 11th from 5:00pm - 6:00pm. For players 11 years and up, our first Stick Time will be Tuesday, March 12th from 5:30pm - 6:30pm.

Meet Your Team Event - Wednesday March 13 5:30- 6:30PM & SRHL will have PIZZA for all players

This is the night that player's will receive their team jersey, find out who their coaches are, what team they are on, and what day/time their practices will be.

Junior Ref Clinic - Monday, March 11th from 5:00 - 6:00 PM

Please click here to RSVP. This clinic is at no cost to players registered for our Spring Season. Players must have played in two SRHL Seasons, must be proficient in backwards skating, and must be 10 years or older to be a junior ref.

Goalie Clinic - Tuesday, March 12th 5:00 - 7:00 PM

If you indicated on your Spring registration that your player would like to play goalie for the Spring 2024 season, we will be hosting two goalie clinics on Tuesday, March 12th. The new/beginner goalie clinic will be held from 5:00pm-6:00pm. The advanced goalie clinic will be held from 6:00pm-7:00pm. Please click here to RSVP. This clinic is at no cost to players registered for our Spring Season. 

Community Events

SHARKS GAME - SRHL has a few community events scheduled during our Spring Season. We will be traveling to San Jose to watch the Sharks vs Blues on April 6th (click here to purchase tickets), and Sharks vs Coyotes on April 7th (click here to purchase tickets). There will be no SRHL games on April 6th in order for players and families to attend these games, so be sure to purchase your tickets soon! 

RODEO TICKETS - We will also be going to the Redding Rodeo on May 16th. Tickets are $35/each and we have 3 boxes on the east side of the area. Click Here to purchase tickets! Please notes we only have a limited number of tickets so it will be a first come first serve.

SRHL is excited to announce that we will be teaming up with the Siskiyou Ice Rink Ice Breakers Kids to host a Exhibition Game. We are planning to do two or three groups that will be separated by age group and skill level. We will need a minimum of 10 players to make an age group possible. Please respond to this survey if you are able to come up no later than Wednesday, January 31 so we can make sure that we have our teams separated and ready for the game. Space will be limited by age group and it will be on a first sign up basis.

The Exhibition Game will be Sunday, Feb 4th, 2024 from 10:00 AM - 12:30 AM at the Mt. Shasta Ice Rink.

The skate will be no cost for the ice time but there is a cost if you need to rent skates. Please note that this 10:00 AM skate is for kids only, there is still an 8:00 AM Skate for adults if you wish to go earlier.

Shasta Roller Hockey League is heading back down to San Jose! San Jose will be playing the St. Louis Blues on Saturday, April 6, 2024 and then a back to back game on Sunday, April 7th vs the Coyotes . Game time is at 3:00pm, gates open at 2:00pm to watch warm ups.  Payable when completing this form. Instructions on how to receive your digitally transferred tickets will be sent via SRHL Fundraising Coordinator KC Chandler.

The SRHL group is going to be participating in the the 2023 Redding Light Parade. 

The Redding Light parade will be Saturday, December 2rd, 2023 & the theme is Around the World. 

The Anderson Light parade will be Sunday, November 26th, 2023 & the theme is Anderson on Ice. 

All volunteers in the parade must come with at least one light up item (shirt, hat, wheels, etc) in order to participate. SRHL will also provide one additional light up accessory per person. We will need both kid and parent volunteers as if we will need 1 adult to every 4-6 skaters. Thi

Welcome Back Hockey Families it is time for us to get ready for Fall season and we have some exciting events coming up. 

• Gear Drop off for Summer is August 28, 2023 from 5:00 PM -7:00 PM

• Learn to Play will begin September 11th so watch for registration information coming out soon. Learn to play will be held on Monday nights 

  • 10U 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM

  • 14U 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM

• Fall Registration will be opening up in early September with early registration discounts closing September 30th, 2023.

• Our first SRHL Community Event will be an NHL Game! Mark your Calendar for October 14, 2023 and join us for a group event as we travel to San Jose to watch the Sharks take on the Avalanche. Ticket information will be coming out soon. 

• Travel Hockey Tryouts and 2024 season information will be out in October 2023. 

• Fall Season Player Evaluations will be on October 16-18, 2023

SRHL is happy to Host a Lake Day out at Whiskeytown's Brandy Creek on Saturday, July 22, 2023 from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

We will have Paddle Boards, Kayaks, Sauce Toss, and boats to take our kids tubing, kneeboarding, and wakeboarding. Look for an Easy Up with the SRHL banner and come out for a day of fun in the sun.
